Jack: Marcy, we got a – we always get great videos, and we get fancy—

Jack: I’m sorry, we always get great reviews, and one of them just really knocked my socks off. The truth is, even though we’re private lenders – some people say hard money lenders – our borrowers are so grateful because frankly, they get shut out of the banking system. So, I just want to read you one and tell everyone about this deal.
Marcy: Absolutely.
Jack: Because this happens all the time here. I don’t think people realize it’s the best part of the job. So, here’s what it said. The guy just posted it on Google. I think, like two days ago, it says, and by the way, the guy’s a real estate investor, and I think the guy’s an attorney.
Marcy: Yes, correct.
Jack: Super nice guy. I happen to speak to him once or twice. It says, “Words cannot convey the excellent service and attention that I received from Gelt Financial from Michael, the person that originated my loan, to Marcy that helped close it. They all went above and beyond to help me secure my loan. Even the owner got involved in the process to help me make this loan,” that’s me.
Marcy: And I’m Marcy.
Jack: (continues to read) Yes, “Everyone on the staff is a pleasure to talk to, and they will do all that is needed to be done to help you. When I applied at the bank, they told me one to two months for the loan, maybe longer, while Gelt said that it would take, it would be two weeks at the most. And so it was. They also gave me the insight and push that I needed to make my property more secure with things that I might not have considered before. Being in commercial real estate for over 40 years, I was humbled by the knowledgeable people at Gelt Financial and owe them a huge debt on a pun side of gratitude for their services to me. Common, we hear that all the time. Marcy, what makes a borrower feel that way about us? He’s borrowing money. We’re not cheap. We’re not saying we’re cheap. How come they’re always so grateful?
Marcy: Well, because we go beyond what we need to do to get the deal done. We sign up the loan, and then I take, you know, take the loan to closing. So, I will do whatever I have to do to, you know, go behind the scenes. If this one doesn’t answer an email and that one doesn’t call, I manage the loan, so I make sure everyone does their job to get it done for our borrowers. And it’s very personalized, so you talk directly to myself. You know, I handle everything that needs to be done. There’s always several lawyers involved in deals. There’s a title agent, there’s insurance agents, there’s inspectors, and I manage it all and get it closed. And that’s why we can go so fast because we do everything internal, and we have complete control over it, and we help the borrowers get what they need. And that’s why they come to us because we could do it fast.
Jack: You control everything. You do the processing, everything. Okay, so let me say it a little bit of a different way. I think when a borrower or a mortgage broker calls us, they’re going to always speak to a decision maker. 90% of the time, we’ll let them know whether we can do the deal or not do the deal in the first 30 or 60 seconds. We know what we like, and we know what we don’t like. Sometimes people don’t like what we don’t like, but that’s what it is.
Marcy: Well, because we do say no a lot, but we do say yes.
Jack: But when we say yes, we’ll tell them on the phone. We quote it out, we follow up with a term sheet. All, everything is disclosed.
Marcy: And everything’s listed right on the term sheet. Everyone knows all the communication.
Jack: There’s no surprises.
Marcy: No surprises.
Jack: No surprises. They sign the term sheet, they get it back, boom, we get them to closing. We don’t have any outside loan committees, we’re not selling it off to Wall Street, we’re not doing any of this stuff, so it moves quick. So really, we’re letting them know right away, and we deliver what we say. We’re not retrading.
Marcy: I mean, we’ve been doing this for so long, like I can tell right away if we can get the loan closed in 5 days, 10 days, you know, whatever the case may be, I will know right away how fast I can move the loan.
Jack: In my mind, we’re honest with people. They know everything up front, and we do what we’re going to say, which is so rare in this world.
Marcy: Right, and I’ll tell you upfront, “you know look, I can get this done in 2 weeks or no, I can’t. I have to get this done in 3 weeks,” you know, whatever the case may be.
Jack: You know what I think also sets us apart – the personalization. They talk to real people, they’re not talking to, you know, we’re not a huge…
Marcy: I have a tremendous personality, so my borrowers love me, and you know what, I, they’re with me through they through until they pay off.
Jack: And weekends, literally, I’m lying in bed last night—
Marcy: I mean, like, you email me on a Saturday or Sunday, you know what? I’ll answer the email, uh, you know, it’s fine. We are there to help you and guide you if something comes up or—
Jack: it’s constant, literally. I’m lying in bed last night, 10:30, 11:00 o’clock. I was in bed; my head was pounding. Literally, I don’t know what it was. I just didn’t feel great. I took Excedrin, whatever, but it just didn’t help. And I’m lying in bed, and I see my phone ring, 10:30, 11:00 o’clock, from someone we deal with on the west coast. But he’s a really nice guy, and you know what? I know he’s busy. I picked up the phone, and you know what? Boom, boom, boom, he was thrilled. How many other people are lying in bed with a headache, picking up the phone? You know what? The truth is he got me. I felt better talking to him, so anyway, but that’s why people love us. Check us out. You know what, sometimes we’re maybe a little bit more expensive, we may be cheaper sometimes, I think we’re middle of the road. But I think the real advantage to deal with us is this customer service that you just don’t get elsewhere. Two other examples, both are going on right now. I think we’re closing one in the next day or so. I’m gonna make a separate video on this, but we’re doing a deal in Boca Raton. It’s a construction loan. The guy called us up a couple of weeks ago, and he was, I think, a hundred thousand short.
Marcy: Full disclosure, we did a construction loan only because it’s in Florida, and we’re familiar with the property.
Jack: That’s correct. Bottom line is the guy called us up. He was 100 grand short, what are we doing?
Marcy: Giving him a 100 grand.
Jack: Okay, we did another deal on a, um, I forget the name of it, and the guy needs; he bought the property, the, of course, they told him the roof was good, his inspection said the roof was good. He’s nine months into it. He needs a new roof, 35 grand, yeah. He called me the other day, boom, we’re giving him another 35,000. So, it’s this personal touch that I really think makes the difference, and we’re a family organization. We really are all family here, not just family, there’s blood here, and that makes a difference. That makes it interesting.
